The Start of a New Adventure

“We’re all traveling through time together every day of our lives. All we can do is do our best to relish this remarkable ride”.

Time is a funny thing and I think if we are all honest with ourselves we would go back and change a few things a long the way. However, one thing I wouldn’t change is where I have landed in my career at this point in life. On the precipice of opening a brand new business I can truly say that nothing to this point has been more exciting, stressful, and uncertain. Despite the highs and the lows of putting this together there lies a constant state of peace. While it may seem selfish there is a certain degree of satisfaction having full reign on a project of this magnitude.

Where did it all begin?

Years ago a fellow acquaintance told me about this place called Escape the Space in Athens, GA. The idea was you were locked in a room for an hour having to solve puzzles and riddles in order to successfully escape. I was beyond enamored at this concept. My background of being a game enthusiast and designer I had to experience what this whole escape room idea was all about. After over 20 different escape room experiences from several different companies, I knew that this was something I wanted to do with my own creative take.

Why “The Lost Room”?

A friend keeps telling me I should have called the business “Escape” pronounced “Escapay” like Dory in the film Finding Nemo. Unfortunately for him, I did not concede that notion. “The Lost Room” is a reference to the miniseries with the same title that debuted in 2006. The purpose behind the name in the business though is I want guests to enjoy one hour of getting “lost”. While still fresh to many, the escape room industry has been growing exponentially over the last five years. If not careful my company would look just like every other fish in the pond with the same cliché room themes and simply trying to make a quick buck on an entertainment trend. My hope for The Lost Room is it becomes a staple in the community where people can come to get brought into a whole other world and truly get “lost”.

What makes us different?

The Lost Room is a product formed out of a passion for the industry. Every room we create is completely original upon it’s development from our own inspirations and creativity. Upon our initial opening we will have the Master Key room that is unlike any room you have seen anywhere with unique set work and surprises throughout, a true pulp adventure. The next three rooms are in development and each will be completely unique and fresh from the next. Many escape room companies have several different themed rooms but often times feel very much the same. The Lost Room will never settle for easy or cheap when it comes to creating rooms and experiences for our guests. The fifth room we will add will be a rotating seasonal room that will change about every 6 months so avid locals have something new to look forward to as well. In addition to eventually having 5 fully operational escape adventures we also have a 500 sq. ft. conference space for rent. This space can hold up to 50 seated guests comfortably around our provided banquet tables and chairs. This space features a kitchen for food service prep or catering. We even installed a second bathroom that is handicap accessible.
